What is a "Sherpa" Program?

Sherpa:

A Sherpa is a Nepalese native guide that is indispensable in anyone's serious aspirations to climb the world's tallest mountain- Mt. Himalaya.

We borrowed the term and more importantly, the imagery because although they are not spectacular athletes or impressive in physical build, their acclimation to the altitude/environment and their knowledge and experience of what lies ahead the foreign terrain are a Godsend and practical lifesaver for anyone new to the Himalayan region.

If you see photos of a typical sherpa, they are often carrying disproportionate amounts of equipment and supplies on their backs as the climbers they guide struggle and grow into functioning in such a different environment (it's shocking to see a climber wearing an oxygen mask and all this hard core gear while right next to him is a sherpa, smoking a cigarette, in simple clothes and carrying about 2 times his weight in gear).

We're obviously not perfect but we've been working with students in their transition to post-college life for many years now and feel we've got a good handle on your practical spiritual needs required to do this transition well.

What we do:

1) Provide a year-long series of programs centered around issues specific to graduating and post-college life readiness.

2) Take seriously our responsibility to start mentoring you in life-long spiritual disciplines outside of the typical 20 minute quiet time.

3) Create a cohort environment for the next few years for you to learn well from others in the same transition as yourself.

4) Allow you to access to our workplace resources and provide a platform to learn from more seasoned Christian professionals.
